Version 1.0 · Effective date:
For people who manage or have access to a Child Profile
A child’s information reflects their real life, relationships and everyday experiences, and it deserves extra care. This notice explains the child-specific privacy protections that sit alongside our main Privacy Policy.
Children do not create or manage their own PeekaWhom accounts. A Child Profile is created or managed by an adult with the appropriate legal authority and management rights. That person uses their own PeekaWhom account and may also have invited access to other children’s Circles. PeekaWhom is not intended to encourage children to submit personal information directly to us.
A person creating a Child Profile must have the legal right or authority to provide the child’s information. Where applicable law requires parental or caregiver consent, PeekaWhom must obtain consent in the form required by that law before the relevant processing begins.
For children under 13 in the United Arab Emirates, the required caregiver consent is explicit, documented and verifiable. For children in Saudi Arabia, consent for processing a child's personal data is given by the child's parent or legal guardian, and PeekaWhom stores a child's health information only with that parent or legal guardian's explicit consent, which can be withdrawn at any time in My Account. Where US COPPA applies, PeekaWhom will provide the required parental notice and obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information online from a child, subject to the limited exceptions allowed by law. PeekaWhom does not rely on a child to consent where the law requires a parent or guardian.
Parents or legal guardians may request access to, correction of or deletion of child information they are legally authorized to manage, and may withdraw or change sharing permissions. Some information may need to be retained where an organization or PeekaWhom has a legal obligation to keep it. Requests can be sent to [email protected].
A school, nursery or other organization may hold separate records outside PeekaWhom and have its own duties regarding access, correction, retention and disclosure. Requests about those records may need to be handled with that organization. A professional invited to a Circle uses their own PeekaWhom account with the access granted for that child.
Where COPPA permits a school to authorize collection for a school-authorized educational purpose, PeekaWhom will limit the information to that purpose and will not use the child’s information for unrelated commercial purposes. Where FERPA applies, education-record information will be used and redisclosed only as permitted by the school’s authorization, written agreement and applicable law.
PeekaWhom AI is coming soon as part of PeekaWhom Plus and is not available today. The planned features may use relevant information from a Child Profile to answer a request made by an adult with the appropriate access. PeekaWhom does not use identifiable Child Profile content to train general-purpose AI models for unrelated purposes. AI outputs can be wrong and must not be treated as medical, emergency, psychological or other professional advice.
